چکیده

Abstract Adaptation to climate change is imperative for the resilience of smallholder agriculture in many developing countries. While studies have focused on climatic impacts crops and adaptation decisions, barriers uptake measures by farmers remain largely unexplored. We empirically quantified adoption measures, as well their determinants Far Western Province, Nepal, based a survey 327 farmers. established relationships between three different agroecosystems: Mountain, Hill, Terai. then used multiple regression identify broader study area, across agroecosystems. found that such crop adjustment, farm management, fertiliser management were practised all regions. Techno-informational, economic, environmental strongly inversely correlated with measures. Adoption, barriers, varied The findings indicate agricultural development policies must consider tailored specific agroecosystems order most effectively alleviate promote resilience.

The impact of climate change on smallholder and subsistence agriculture.

Some of the most important impacts of global climate change will be felt among the populations, predominantly in developing countries, referred to as "subsistence" or "smallholder" farmers. Their vulnerability to climate change comes both from being predominantly located in the tropics, and from various socioeconomic, demographic, and policy trends limiting their capacity to adapt to change. Ho...

Micro-Climate Engineering for Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture

Can farmers change micro-climates around their crops as an adaptation to climate change? We present a novel adaptation technique for pistachio growers in California, meant to deal with warm winters. A kaolin clay mud is sprayed on dormant trees, blocking sunlight and lowering tree bud temperatures, preventing adverse yield effects of low chill. Climate predictions for California suggest that wi...

Climate Change: Implications for Indian Agriculture

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has projected that the global mean surface temperature will rise by 2.0 4.5oC by 2100 due to increase in carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere. Climate variability is also projected to increase, leading to uncertain onsets of monsoons and more frequent extremes of weather, such as more severe droughts and floods. These environmental changes...
